A big thank you to Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd for making a real difference at The Buchanan Trust.

After experiencing ongoing localised flooding and drainage issues following earlier building works, investigations identified damage to an old drainage ditch and soakaway.

In late 2025, Matthew Davies, Social Value Co-Ordinator at Alun Griffiths Contractors, contacted us as part of the company’s commitment to supporting local charities and organisations during their works on Holme Lacy Road.

Following a site survey with Ryan Smith in February 2026, the project was approved and in August, the team got to work.

Despite one of the hottest, driest summers in decades, Horse, Dando and Bomber excavated an incredible 400-metre trench, around 900mm deep, installed a brand-new drainage system and made good the site afterwards.

For a veterans’ charity like The Buchanan Trust, support of this scale is hugely valuable and helps us continue focusing our resources where they matter most, supporting veterans and their families.
